Founder/CEO of Jaguar Therapeutics, Dr. Chris Herrera has taken a fragmented health system and created a true multidisciplinary health system, bringing together physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, and physiological testing all under one roof. He has been facilitating dynamic physical therapy and premier fitness training in the South Florida community since 2005. As acting Head Physical Therapist, Chris oversees the development and implementation of innovative therapies, strength and conditioning programs, corporate healthcare management, and overall direction of Jaguar Therapeutics Franchising.

 

Originally founded as Jaguar PT in 2005, Chris expanded the company through the addition of: Jaguar PT Rehab, LLC (2009-2015), Jaguar Therapeutics, LLC (2015-Present), Jaguar Consulting (2015-Present), Jaguar Therapeutics Franchising (2015-present), and 3Med Billing (2016), along with purchasing esteemed physical therapy colleague Lisa Kearn’s very successful Downtown Sportfit and Rehab, converting it into the Jaguar Therapeutics Downtown clinic, to continue offering the most comprehensive and expansive outpatient services in Miami.

 

Chris’s renowned knowledge and professional experience in orthopedics, sports therapy, and manual treatment techniques allow him to offer intelligent and efficient therapies designed around the individual athlete. Chris has worked with professional football, baseball, martial arts, and basketball athletes through the various Jaguar Clinics, and director of sports rehab at Bommarito Performance Systems (BPS) (2010-2015) and Fitspeed (2016). Under his leadership, Jaguar Therapeutics has treated over 300 NFL players, 250 College Football players, 50 MLB players, 50 Olympians, and countless youth and amateur athletes.

 

Chris is a Voluntary Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he created and continues to teach the CSCS strength and conditioning course for physical therapy students. In addition to acting as a guest lecturer for Health and Wellness, Business Administration, Chris also acts as a Clinical Instructor for student physical therapists from UM, NYU, Clark, FIU, USC, Mercer, North eastern, Northwestern, Nova Southeastern, Texas Womens College, Iowa, Washington University in St. Louis, Ohio University, and Nazzarath college.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Chris is the Medical Coordinator of the US Olympic Sailing Performance Enhancement Team (PET), acting as head physical therapist. He works with US Sailing management and staff to coordinate all medical coverage within US and internationally to support the athletes with doctors, therapists, Chiropractors, and nutritional demands. Chris has been working with US Sailing for over eight years and was a member of the 2012 US Sailing Team and United States Olympic Committee (USOC) Medical team that traveled and worked with the athletes at the 2012 London Olympics.

 

Known as an expert in creating and developing sport-specific training regimens, Chris shaped and expanded his own ACL rehab / training into an accelerated and skill specific program following a personal injury. Within 2 years of his surgery he became the starting point guard for a Divisional I college basketball team. His time playing for Eastern Illinois from 1999-2003 also included participating in the 2002 NCAA Basketball Tournament. Following graduation from the university of Miami, Chris gained experienced working a Physical Therapist in the Sports Medicine Department of Baptist Hospital’s Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center from 2007-2008.

 

Jaguar Therapeutics Franchising:

Chris has brought together a team with experience in business, finance, real estate and a variety of healthcare fields to help develop Jaguar Therapeutics Franchising. Jaguar Therapeutics Franchising is the first health care franchise in the country to offer physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and fitness training all within one facility. Chris has taken the successful model that he has utilized in his corporate facilities to allow anybody to franchise and open their own Jaguar facility anywhere in the United States. He has also created a unique and progressive business residency program enabling therapists and new physical therapy graduates to learn the essential business components of outpatient private practice. With this program the therapists will be given a opportunity to own and operate their own Jaguar Therapeutics Franchise Clinic anywhere they want within the United States.

 

EDUCATION

Chris graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2003 with a Bachelor degree in Business Management from the Lumpkin School of Business graduating Cum Laud. After completing his undergraduate studies he continued his postgraduate education at the University of Miami. He graduated with honors in 2007 from UM with a doctorate in physical therapy from the Miller School of Medicine.

 

He is a leader in the healthcare field with a specialty in rehabilitation and sports training as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and United States Weightlifting Performance Coach (USAW). Chris also holds certifications in Graston Technique and Functional Movement Screening and is a member of APTA, Private Practice Section, and an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor.
